Build Back Better Analysis of Tourism Sector Recovery in Rarotonga, Cook Islands
Rarotonga, Cook Islands has a history of being impacted by tropical cyclones resulting in wind and sea surge-related damages. The tourism sector contributes to 60% of the GDP in the Cook Islands, and remains at very high risk for disruption from tropical cyclones due to tourism businesses prevalently being located along the coast of the island. Our research involved investigating the resilience of the tourism sector in Rarotonga under a BBB lens.
