Mohamed is a PhD candidate in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Auckland, New Zealand. He has 12 years of experience in various fields of commercial, residential and industrial construction. He studied his Masters in the field of construction management at Southern Polytechnic state university, Georgia, USA.

Mohamed is researching the post disaster reconstruction of villages that were affected by Tropical Cyclone Winston in Fiji. He is doing a comparative study between building methods adopted in different villages using the Build Back Better Framework to find out the most resilient solutions suitable for successful rebuilding and recovery in Fiji.

His multi-disciplinary engineering background gives him a very strong base to discover innovative ideas and simple modifications that would promote resilience and fast recovery in disaster-affected communities.
